Stewardship Campaign 2017 – Called to be the Church

This past fall we began our Stewardship Campaign, Called to Be the Church.  We recognized the team that will be working on this campaign by commissioning them to good works ahead.  I hope that the Message from the service October 15 and the testimonials will inspire you.

We want to say thank you for all you do and give to St. Mark’s to keep us a vital and viable church family. The Givings team and I have prepared a package for our St. Mark’s family.   We hope you will take the time to read the contents and prayerfully consider what we are sharing with you, what we are asking, and with thanksgiving in your hearts, contemplate what this church means to you.

Your package is available for pick up at the church until Monday, October 23, 2017.

May you know God’s presence always,

Rev. Deb

Called to be the Church

Our worship is filled with scripture, song, and story about God’s generosity and our response—thanksgiving. In our worship we regularly say what we believe in our New Creed. We believe that we are called as individuals, families, congregations, and a denomination to follow in the way of Jesus to bring about a world of justice and peace.

Over the coming weeks we will focus on how We Sing Thanksgiving by supporting God’s mission. We will share more stories about why we give; how our generosity makes a difference here at St. Mark’s; how we have an impact on the community around us; and how, through the Mission & Service of the United Church, we respond to this call nationally and globally.

Testimonial October 8, 2017: David C

I respond to this call and give to the ministry of St. Mark’s because I feel welcome here. As part of this community of faith, I have made friends and lasting relationships.  Even though we have only lived in Whitby for 15 years, I now consider Whitby my home town because of the relationships fostered here at St Mark’s.
