WE APPROACH GOD
CALL TO WORSHIP:
Minister: Before the mountains rose from the deep, before light broke upon the waters, before a single creature drew its first breath—God was.
People: And so, we gather—not because we are worthy, but because we are called.
Minister: We proclaim that God was before all things;
People: We proclaim that by God’s will all things exist.
Minister: May our eyes be opened to the divine glory we so often miss.
People: And may we worship one God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—now and to the ages of ages.
OPENING HYMN: “Holy God, We Praise Your Name” (#894 – Voices United)
OPENING PRAYER
Eternal God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—you are before all things, above all things, and woven through all things, and yet we still confess that we move through our days nearly blind to your glory. We fill our hours with lesser concerns, and we arrive here still battling against our inattention and our pride; our very little faith and our sometimes very large failures. We pray that you will receive us now as we are and not as we wish we were, and that in your great mercy you will forgive what we have done and left undone. Strip away whatever in us that continues to resist your presence. Then, O God, open our eyes, open our lips and open our hearts. Make us truly aware of your presence, so that this time of worship will be far more than mere ritual, but will be a genuine encounter with you, the living God, whose name we have gathered to praise. Amen.

INVITATION TO THE OFFERING
200TH ANNIVERSARY HYMN: “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty”
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee.
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty,
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!
Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea,
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.
Holy, Holy, Holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see,
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name, in earth and sky and sea;
Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity.
OFFERTORY HYMN: Improvisation, followed by “Grant Us, God, The Grace” (#540 – Voices United)
BLESSING OF THE OFFERING
Father, every good gift descends from you—the source of all that is. Receive what we return to you now, not as payment for what we owe, but as an act of worship from people who know ourselves to be saved and held by your grace. May these gifts bear the mark of the Son, who gave himself without reservation for the life of the world, and, by your Spirit, would you multiply what is offered —beyond what we can measure or imagine—for the sake of your Kingdom and the flourishing of your people. Amen.
MINISTRY OF MUSIC: “O God, Whose First Creative Word” (J. Dykes)

COMMISSIONING
Minister: Remember that we are not alone; we are not strangers in an indifferent world. We go protected. We go accompanied.
People: We go in the strength of the Father—maker of all that we will see, touch, and face this week.
Minister: Remember that Christ walks beside us—not only in sacred moments, but in the ordinary hours of our days.
People: We go in the company of the Son—our companion on every road, our wisdom in every uncertainty, our peace in every conflict.
Minister: Remember that the Spirit moves within us, guiding us into new and exciting opportunities to live our faith in meaningful ways.
People: We go alive in the Spirit: to love our neighbours, to bear one another’s burdens, and to make the grace of God visible.
