Meditation is as natural to the spirit as breathing is to the body. Deeply rooted in the Christian tradition, it is an ancient spiritual discipline, a simple way into peace within oneself and union with the Spirit of Christ. This is not to say that meditation is “the only way” to pray or the only way to wisdom. But meditation – silence, stillness and simplicity – does lead to the experience of wholeness that opens, in faith, to holiness. Holiness is the integration of wisdom and compassion applied to daily living. Meditation is a global practice available to all, and participants are most welcome to use the method in which they are comfortable or trained. The format will include a recorded talk, then several spiritual readings, and beautiful music leading us into a period of silence and stillness. Question/answer/discussion and fellowship to follow.
The book club will begin gathering again in 2021. Please feel free to join the Book Club discussion. We meet from September to November and January to May. Even if you travel in the winter you can email comments about the book to the members. Not enough hours in your week? Feel free to enjoy the books on the list. The books have all been recommended by the members of the Book Club.
The club meets on last Tuesday of each month (September – June) from 9:30 am to 11 am to discuss the book of the month. New members are always welcome!
